Weekend Wrap

October 29th, 2007 by

Talk about cleaning your home plate. The Red Sox swept the World Series, erasing the Colorado Rockies. Searches on Sox stars Jacoby Ellsbury, John Henry, and Jon Lester all surged.

As for other spikes, the weekend was about finding redemption, pursuing justice, and some last-moment Halloween planning.

1. Smallest Dog in the World (+infinity) A wee pup named Boo-Boo entered the world record annals earlier this month, but her four-inch fame was overlooked until now.
2. George Washington Horse Racing (+infinity) A wet track at the Breeders’ Cup caused this racehorse to fracture his foreleg. His story ended with a quick euthanization.
3. Fires Satellite (+infinity%) Half a million acres, seven counties. Those kinds of numbers are hard to grasp without the help of a bird’s-eye view.
4. Cheap and Easy Halloween Costumes (+infinity%) To all lagging celebrants on a budget, you may want to follow the inspiration of other like-minded latecomers.
5. Catalog Choice (+1,201%) The onslaught of holiday catalogs has already clogged mailboxes. Searchers are honing into this site to help stop the flow.
6. Britney Spears Blackout (+6,659%) Brit’s new album has been yanking praise from surprised critics.
7. Lisa Montgomery (+3,616%) Jury suggests Montgomery be executed for murder and stealing an unborn child.
8. George Jung (+2,358%) With the movie “American Gangster” opening this weekend, other infamous drug traffickers are drawing searches.
9. Guitar Hero 3 Cheats (+2,186) The newest installment of the video game has already pulled in cheaters.
10. Sunday Night Football (+2,060%) Those who prefer clashes over sweeps tuned into the pigskin action.
